Monkey-toes

It is tough getting my six month old daughter to wear shoes. I was so surprised when she was immediately drawn to the bright colors of the cutest set of shoes and socks from Monkey-Toes. She even let me put them on her without a fuss!

There are several different animal sets from which to choose: Buzzy Bees (bumblebee themed), Spunky Spiders (spider themed), Leap Frogs (frog themed), Little Piggies (pig themed), Wowie Cowie (cow themed), Silly Monkey (monkey themed) and my daughter's favorite, Little Ladies (ladybug themed). The adorable shoes and socks are an eye-catching red and black with tightly coiled black laces on the shoes, adding to the ladybug effect.

I was even more amazed to learn that all the shoes are one-of-a-kind; each is hand painted by Jenny Chism (owner and artist of Monkey-Toes). Along with the socks & shoes sets, Jenny offers hand painted Mary-Janes, which are perfect for when you want to dress up your daughter's outfit a little bit more. All come in a neat netted bag, making for a great shower or holiday gift.

In addition to Monkey-Toes adorable shoes and socks, this compassionate company is dedicated to raising awareness for Sudden Unexplained Death in Children (SUDC). With the help of her mom, five-year-old Rose Chism designed the artwork that is featured on the front of Rosie's Reason "Live for a Reason" tees. They are certainly an amazing testament to the creative and giving spirit of a child. The shirts are available in both adult and children's sizes and sell for $20 ($10 from each sale is donated to SUDC).

To learn more about SUDC and to see all the cute and unique items, visit Monkey-Toes.

BusyBabe
We all need to be organized and with a baby in the house we know who maintains the schedules. What a great idea to combine a daily calendar and organizer for both Mom and Baby! I just love the way this special book is planned. There is a page for each day of the month - and it is nicely sorted with tabs clearly marking each month. But just wait until you see how the day is organized - first with a tip of the day - and my favorite, a quote of the day.

I am just delighted to have the essentials covered in such a wonderfully organized fashion. There is just enough space to keep track of eating, sleeping, the "to do's", daily appointments, tonight's dinner, and most thoughtfully, the pattern tracker. There is no pressure here as there is a succinct A (Vital - must be done), B (Important - should be done), C (Optional - could be done) priority line for checking off. There are even a few lines especially devoted to "today's buzz" where you jot down the precious moments of life, the things we did, the baby's firsts, people we saw.

I love the page called "me time" - we all can dream! An essential page is the "sitter instructions". There is no guess work here with a page dedicated to all a sitter would need to know, and organized to give the information at a quick glance. At the beginning of each month there is a great insert page with various practical hints from packing for baby, packing for mom, getting into shape, to finding a sitter.

The cover is slick and washable with baby's photo and name and the size is perfect for holding to read and for jotting down notes. It has a great heavy duty spiral binding so there is no chance of missing a page. This organizer lays flat on any surface. I guarantee you will love the BusyBabe organizer from cover to cover.

5% of all sales of BusyBabe Personalized Daily Calendar & Organizer are donated to Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation.

All-Weather Woobee

Bbrrr I don't know about you but here, in my backyard, winter is definitely here. I can't really complain after all the nice days we had in November and early December. Besides I always liked seasons: the pretty colors of Fall, the snowy days of Winter, the rebirth of Nature in Spring, the warm sun of Summer…But when you have a 15 month-old whose favorite excitement of the afternoon is to go out to look for little stones and sticks, cold or rainy winter days are not always so welcome anymore.

Fortunately, I am pleased to tell you that thanks to my daughter's new All-Weather Woobee blanket by These Two Girls, those rainy days don't rhyme with "boring" anymore but with happy! Happy like my daughter who now gets to take a walk in her stroller or go "swing" in any weather.

How is it possible? Well, All-Weather Woobee blankets were smartly and fashionably designed by Heather Correa, mom and owner of These Two Girls, so that one side of the blanket is made of a water resistant nylon with a DWR coating (durable weather resistant) whereas the other side is made of the most delicate and gentle fabric you could imagine. This allows your little one to be protected from bad weather while warmly nestling in the stroller or the baby carrier.
Last but not least, those fabulous 30"x 36" blankets will always keep in place thanks to the two ribbons that you can tie to the sides of the car seat, stroller, etc.
That blanket is definitely a "must-have"!

All-Weather Woobee blankets are available in three different designs: velvet (turquoise pistachio and tangerine), prints (leopard, camo and ranch print) and super soft plush (blueberry, pink, lilac and latte).
These Two Girls' adorable web site offers also burps and bibs, all conceived with the same functional and stylish materials than the blankets. Bibs even have a front pocket to catch crumbs or liquids. How efficient! I love that!

So visit These Two Girls and choose your favorite blanket! I guarantee you and your tot will love it…in any weather!

Paciclips

I found the cutest little fashion accessory - not for me but for the baby! It is the just dearest little practical touch for the holiday season. I have the snowman with a red grosgrain ribbon - and we all love Frosty! How many times have you rummaged around in your pockets, on the counter, in the drawer, in your purse, in the diaper bag, in the car seat for the baby's pacifier - or dropped it on the floor (and in desperation…licked it!)?

Relax - this clever little pacifier clip will keep the soothing pacifier close at hand and with a special flair. Frosty is "my man" today - but you will be delighted with the charming assortment of buttons which adorn this great item. Check them out and you will be thrilled with the variety. Paci Clips & More offers the cutest little stockings for holiday shipping.

Paci Clips & More's concern for the saftey of your child is first and foremost. Special care is taken with each and every pacifier/paci/binky clip! All items are made using the best quality of products to ensure your happiness and satisfaction. The velcro is sewn to the ribbon to ensure it will not come unattached if your little ones bites or pulls on the pacifier/paci/binky clip. The end of the ribbon is then securely attached to an ID clip. After your pacifier/paci/binky clip has been assembled the ends of the ribbons are sealed to prevent fraying.

I just love anything cute for babies; it always brings an extra smile to my world - and what a practical and fun way to know where the pacifier is. I know if you will fall in love with Frosty all over again and I can just hear you all humming his tune.

La Folie

"Pom-poms, look Mom, pom-poms!" are the first words out of my daughter's mouth when she saw the tassles on la Folie's Giggles hat. This adorable hand-knitted hat fits perfect and gets more compliments than any other winter clothing my daughter wears.

Not only are these one of a kind hats, scarves, sweater sets and blankets and the newest rave, but they are also cute and so snuggly warm. Your child will have a blast showing off her la Folie clothing while wearing them on those cold winter days. If you can imagine, they are even cuter in person... if that is possible!

la Folie's products are all hand knit…with love! Heather Hervé and Gayle Greenberger, two stylish sisters, started the business doing what they adore --knitting fun, hip, one of a kind accessories for your kids. Select yarns and a commitment to quality design and production are at the heart of la Folie's line. Products are offered in a variety of sizes and colors, so you can let your creative juice run as you select the perfect hat or sweater to match your child's personality.

My daughter and I are not the only enthusiastic admirers of la Folie designs. Celebrity babies such as Coco Cox Arquette and Apple Paltrow Martin (as seen in US and People magazine wearing Babe in the Woods hat) are the littlest la Folie aficionados.

Newborns, toddlers, boys and girls (and even silly moms such as myself), can stay warm this winter with beautiful hand knit designs from la Folie. Visit la Folie and receive 10% off orders by using coupon code WHFT10. E-mail the sisters with the code in the message section of the "Get in Touch" form, and they'll contact you to take your order.

Baby Legs
"Très jolie"…This is my daughter…really "très jolie".
I can't remember a single day where I have not looked at her and told her she is "très jolie"…Very beautiful…Some days I find her soooo "très jolie" that I like to detail everything that is so joli about her…Très joli little nose…Très jolis blue eyes…Très joli belly button…Oh très jolis little feet… (Can you tell I'm just completely soft on my baby girl?) I especially tell her she is "très jolie" once she is dressed up every morning because she makes any outfit look so cute.
Some days I detail everything that I find so joli about her outfit as well…Très jolies little ladybugs…Très jolis buttons…Oh so très jolies flowers…After 15 months of telling her she is so jolie, she slowly but surely developed a "sense of fashion". For instance, whenever I tell her she is jolie, she looks down at her outfit and shows me everything that she thinks is, indeed, joli about it…Seeing her becoming a little "fashion expert" is really cute!

As self-proclaimed "fashion experts", there is one thing she and I agree on: fashion is nothing without practicality!
And that is why we just love the latest fashionable but practical addition to her wardrobe: a pair of Baby Legs warmers!

Practical because they "make nappy changes a breeze, warm legs during nappy free play time, protect soft knees from harsh surfaces, provide light weight sun protection, make EC'n and potty training easier". And the list does not end here: just check out all moms' testimonials on Baby Legs' web site! It's true that they are very useful.
I actually surprise myself discovering new practical aspects of those adorable warmers since my daughter has been wearing them. The last time I thought they were really handy was a couple weeks ago after my daughter played in the backyard just before dinner. Her pants were covered with dirt and leaves, and I knew those were the last clean pants available that day. Dilemma? Absolutely not! The dirty pants went directly in the wash machine and my daughter just casually slipped into Baby Legs for the rest of the day! Perfect!
One practical aspect that I particularly appreciate is the fact that they are "one size fits all", which means that, to the contrary of the precious outfits she will some day sadly outgrow, she will wear her Baby Legs warmer for a very long time!

Baby Legs are also fashionable because my daughter, the budding fashion expert, says so! And she knows about la mode! Seriously, whether your little girl wears them with a onesie, under a skirt, pants, shorts or a tutu, you won't help but think: "she is really très jolie with her Baby Legs"….

To enjoy all their beautiful and so fashionable designs, visit Baby Legs, where fashion meets practicality!

Okki Baby

I believe in Santa Claus!

Really, I do. I believe that the jolly ole' man in the bright red suit lives in all of us. He is the inspiration for all the joy and good cheer that we so eagerly give and receive during the holiday season. Without this motivation…what meaning would the holidays really have? I guess my tag line is simply, WWSD (What Would Santa Do).

WWSD…hummm
With Santa's busy schedule, he would surely call on his little elves for assistance. So many gifts to buy, presents to wrap, stockings to stuff, reindeer to groom and cookies to eat…Santa needs a good support team. In my home, this support team is called family! And while they would look pretty silly sporting felt shoes and caps with jingling bells, they do have an alternative. Super cute onesies and tees from Okki Baby.

Okki Baby's holiday collection features long sleeved onesies and tees with images such as Little Elf, Ho Ho Ho and my favorite, Santa's Little Helper. All are made of 100% cotton with a printed image that is 3 inches across in size. Also, a portion of the proceeds from Okki Baby sales goes to helping children in Uganda, Darfur and in the Hogar Corazonista Hermano Policarpo orphanage in Colombia, South America (International Rescue Committee).

Okki Baby's designs are "about celebrating every individual child, and to empower them to be anything they want to be." Laura Simmons, owner and mom, has researched the market to deliver clothing and designs that are not only whimsical and top quality, but are products that both parents and kids love.

So when your tots wake up (or okki which is Japanese for wake up) on Christmas morning, be sure to have a little something under the tree to let them know that you also believe…in Santa and in family.

Now WWSD? So that all his little elves will be dressed in style, he is giving Whats Hot For Tots readers an extra 20% off all purchases at Okki Baby by using coupon code "Hottots20".

Myself Belts

Having a toddler is an interesting, and comical, experience, to say the least. My 19-month old son is a riot…he makes my husband and I laugh all the time. One of his funniest, and sometimes most dangerous, act is attempting to lift very, very heavy things…like the boulder in our front yard. Needless to say, he thinks he can do almost everything by HIMSELF!
So, when we discovered the Myself Belt, we were absolutely thrilled!

The Myself Belt is the perfect item of clothing for a toddler yearning for independence…because they can do it themselves! With its velcro closure, even the littlest of hands can fasten and unfasten this belt. The belts are also adorable…from the camouflage, fire truck, and cars for boys to the hearts, stars, and pink corduroy for girls…there is something for everyone!

In fact, the Myself Belts website is so user friendly, your little independent toddler can view all belt styles and make their own decision (with your help of course)! Also on the website is the sizing guide, for kiddies ages 2 to 6 years old. This guide takes into consideration your child's weight, and finds the perfect fit for them.

Lastly, an adult version is now available for those adults with difficulty fastening their belt, such as after hand surgery, etc.

Want to boost your toddler's self-esteem and independence? Buy the Myself Belts at www.myselfbelts.com.
They make great stocking stuffers too!

Bublove

And it started with a little kiss, like this
She told me to
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
Just give me kiss…

Please forgive me; I am having an 80's moment. You see, I just received the most adorable onesie in the mail from My Bub Rocks (a division of bublove™). The cool design that has got me reminiscing is "two turntables and a pacifier". Right away I pictured Run-DMC rockin' the turntables and lyrics with Aerosmith. Come on, I know you remember the video too… walk this way!

Walk this way indeed (or rather, surf this way) over to bublove's website and take a look at all the bub designs. There are so many cute ones to choose! For example, "sweet bub" for sweet as pie tiny bubs, "rockabilly bub" for you musical big bub, "wiggley bub" for your big-r bub and "love you bub" or "hug your bub" for mom & dad.

I bet you are wondering, who is bub? Good question! Kim Ballesteros (owner and designer of BubLove explains, "My inspiration for bublove is my bub, Lyle. When he was born, my mother started calling him bubby - kind of a nickname for baby." The inability to find cool tees for Bub motivated Kim to begin making them herself. And thus began her quest to spread the love…with bublove tees.

Let's help Kim with her mission to make the world a happier place this holiday season by dressing all of our bubs in bublove's "merry bub" tees. I am picturing it now, a sea of rosy faced Merry Bubs at the Christmas parade…how cute!

Lighten My Labor™
Sure there is an array of "lotions and potions" specially designed for us women. There are even some great products to use following the birth of our children. Creams to remove stretch marks, lotions to soothe our tender breasts and aromatic candles to calm our ever-changing hormonal state. But what about caring for us before, or better yet, during childbirth? Lighten My Labor™ is the answer to our prayers!

Founded by Ann Marie D'Onofrio, Lighten My Labor™ is designed to offer women that "little something extra" during the labor and delivery process. Believe me, Ann Marie knows what she is talking about! Not only is she a mom but is also an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner…definitely someone who knows the needs of childbearing women.

Included in the Lighten My Labor™ Phases of Labor Comfort Collection is Breathe With Me™ (a linen and room mist), Relax With Me™ (a whipped massage gel), Lift Me™ (a rejuvenating body mist) and Restore Me™ (an after-baby bath soak crystals). You must me thinking…How am I going to remember which product to use during labor? This is where your "support team" can help!

All it takes is a simple light mist of Breathe With Me™ on your "oh so sterile" hospital linens to feel relaxed. (Heck, we spray our linens at home so why not in the hospital too!) When your labor kicks up a notch, have your partner massage your hands, feet and belly with the soothing lavender scented Relax With Me™. (I promise, it will help!) In your final phase of labor, a little Lift Me™ body mist will cool your down and lift you up. And now…Restore Me™ please! Enjoy a warm bath soak that aids in comforting all the body parts that have worked so hard to bring your beautiful baby into the world.

Wait…there's more! Lighten My Labor™ has just introduced two new products. Mama's Masquerade™ (an anti acne and blemish masque) and Morning Rescue™ (a body cream that aids in morning sickness and dry skin).

Twilight Turtle
The day my daughter discovered the Twilight Turtle by Cloud b was the day she fell in love with it.
I opened the box…right away she knew it was her turtle and hugged her -yes it's a she!-

After the first minutes of excitement she came back to me and I could show her the wonderful features of her turtle. The Twilight Turtle is indeed not just a turtle. Its shell projects seven different constellations on the nursery's walls or ceiling: Orion, the Dragon, the Little Dipper, the Greater Dog, Cepheus and Pegasus - the turtle comes with a Star Guide to help you and your tot recognize those constellations. Furthermore, the twilight comes in three colors: amber ("color of autumn and the setting sun. […] radiates warmth, good cheer and peace"), green ("color of life and renewal. […] symbolic of growth and the rebirth of spring") and blue ("to calm the mind and soothe the senses. […] encourages relaxation and promotes sound sleep"). It will also turn itself automatically off once your tot is sleeping!
Needless to say my daughter loved her turtle even more once she discovered all that!

I then told my daughter the story of her new friend:
"Nestled at the bottom of a lazy creek is a beautiful heart shaped pond with golden water lilies, fluffy cattails, and a clear view of the open sky. It was the perfect place for Papa Turtle to teach his new baby all the wisdom that he once learned from his own papa.
Every day they would follow the lazy creek from sunset until the stars came out before heading home. This was Baby Turtle's favorite time because [she] loved to find shapes and patterns in the stars. Back at the pond, [she] would continue to gaze at the stars with [her] papa 'til [she] peacefully fell asleep.
Then one rainy day when they were headed back, the lazy creek overflowed and turned into three little streams. The streams went down in three different directions, but to Papa's surprise, Baby Turtle started walking down the right stream back to the pond. "How do you know the right way home?" asked Papa Turtle. "We always walk back toward those stars that look like a puppy," Baby Turtle said, pointing up at a group of stars. "You are absolutely right, my little Twilight Turtle," proclaimed a proud and happy father. Today Twilight Turtle helps pass on the knowledge and wisdom that came from [her] papa and [her] papa's papa before that."

After naming the turtle "Madame Tortue", we immediately installed her in a strategic place in the nursery so that the stars would shine throughout the room…And that's how Madame Tortue instantly became part of my daughter's daily night time routine. Somewhere between reading a story and a kiss good night, she hugs Madame Tortue, carefully chooses which color the stars will be, shows them to me on the walls and goes to bed. And I leave the room with peace of mind knowing that she will fall asleep looking at the stars…

The Twilight Turtle is just one of the great items available on Baby Bella's web site. From the funny onesies and T-shirts, the Svan high chairs to the Taggies, Baby Bella has the gift you are looking for! Visit Baby Bella!

Baby Banz

Cool dude! That is what my son looks like in his new Baby Banz sunglasses. Oh yeah, and his teddy bear looks cool in them too!

My husband and I couldn't be more thrilled with these glasses. Made of a tough and durable material, they can withstand the tumbles, tosses, and somersaults of any toddler! And the best part about these glasses, other than the fact that my son looks like a mini-Tom Cruise circa Top Gun, is the adjustable neoprene band so they won't fall off.

What are the other great features of these glasses…1) they are comfortable (yes, Mommy tried them on too!), 2) they come in many different colors (pink, blue, black…you choose!), and 3) they come with pop-out lenses which may be replaced by prescription lenses. How great for kids who need prescription glasses…no one will ever know the difference!

Last, and most importantly, Baby Banz sunglasses protect against harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. The most harmful UV rays for the eyes, UVB rays, have been suggested as a potential cause of cataracts after prolonged sun exposure. Though this is a condition of adulthood, it is imperative that parents protect their children's eyes, and skin, NOW by blocking UV rays via sunglasses, hats, visors, topical sunscreen, etc.

For other fantastic and super cool products to protect your children…such as hats, swimsuits, and Ski Banz (so cute!)…visit Baby Banz!

Petite Prints

This distinctive product appeals to my traditional side; I just love the classic and nostalgic look. For as long as I can remember I have loved to look at silhouettes; there is special charm in the simplicity of a profile. Susie Harrington, a graphic designer extraordinaire has raised the artistry of silhouettes to the highest level.

All you need to do is send a simple and photograph of a profile and leave the rest to Susie. If you are looking for special note pads, matchless greeting cards or distinctive gift cards and stationery, then you have found the perfect artist. A special favorite of mine is the silhouette paperweight - what a wonderful gift for a loved ones desk. There are several styles so you will definitely find the one most appropriate for the lucky receiver. Perhaps you would like to have a t-shirt adorned with silhouettes. They are a unique and comfortable fashion statement which will be designed for you as a tank top, long or three quarter sleeve t or with a flattering cap sleeve.

Another fantastic product in the Petite Print line is the needlepoint kit. They come in the most beautiful colors and make especially nice pillows. Here is a chance to use your ingenuity and create your own masterpiece or purchase the kit to give it to the special someone you know who simply loves to do needlepoint.

If you can't decide what to give someone who has wonderful taste and very much likes to make his or her own decisions - order a gift certificate from this wonderful site. I guarantee this will be the most appreciated gift of the season.

Corduroy

I was at CVS yesterday, just picking up a few household necessities. I really wasn't in the mood to shop until I walked by Christmas aisle…fun colors and beautiful wrappings are my downfall. Up and down the aisles I walked "window-shopping" for stocking stuffers for my family when I nearly tripped over a toy bear. Instinctively, I pick it up, gave it a hug and said, "What's wrong Corduroy? Did you fall off the shelf?" Corduroy, I thought, why on earth did I call the little fellow Corduroy? Then I remembered…

One of my favorite books as a kid was called Corduroy. Maybe some of you have read it but for those who have not, bear with me. Corduroy was a slightly worn toy that lived on the shelves of a department store. He waited patiently day after day for someone to buy him and give him a home. One afternoon, he thought the day he had been waiting for had arrived…Lisa spotted him. But because he seemed to be a little shelf worn (his overalls were missing a button), Lisa's mother said that maybe Lisa should save her money for a "better" toy. That evening, Corduroy hopped off the shelf and began his adventures…searching the department store for his lost button. With his button he knew that he would be perfect and a little boy or girl would buy him and love him. Unfortunately, he was unable to locate the button but this did not really matter after all. You see, bright and early the next morning Lisa returned with her mother to take Corduroy home.

This is such a simple but tender story about a teddy bear that sees himself as little less than perfect and a little girl that thinks Corduroy is perfect just the way he is…missing button and all. It is a book that contains a message that your kids will always remember; there is something special in everything and everybody.

When you are out searching for stocking stuffers this holiday season, I hope you too will run across your own Corduroy….and give him a hug for me!

Plueys

Fantastic! Awesome! It's raining! ...I was about to look for my turquoises in my drawer and gather feathers in my backyard to start a Rain Dance…but I don't have to anymore: it is finally raining!
If I am so excited about it, it is because now I have a good excuse to put my Plueys boots on and hum to "Singing in the rain"

Je chante sous la pluie…I'm singing in the rain...Je chante sous la pluie avec mes Plueys…I'm singing in the rain with my Plueys…And thanks to Plueys my feet are dry and as fashionable as they can be…la la la la

My boots are indeed so comfortable and elegant that I wish it was raining every day -I know: silly me!-. Fortunately Pluey's web site contains a list of ideas for people like me who would like to wear them all the time, so we don't have to wait for the rain anymore: "washing the car à la Edie in Desperate Housewives, cheering the kids on at soccer practice, tending your prize-winning giant garden pumpkin, digging clams and chasing sand crabs, picking wildflowers and dandelions for your beau (or just because)…"

The "Puddle Stompers" come in six different patterns (Origami Me, SubLime, Puppy Love, Go Fish!, Lotsa Dots and SugarPlum) with a neat adjustable buckle and strap.
All boots are "made from durable natural rubber, are softly lined for your comfort, and feature sturdy treaded soles. […] Perfect for dressing up or dressing down […] whether at the playground or on 5th Avenue!"

When you order your fabulous new boots, you will receive, for free, a very handy waterproof pvc tote to have them with you all the time.
Plueys also provides kids' boots (available in Berry Stripey and Blue Jeans), umbrellas (available in three different colors) and gift certificates.

Want to treat your feet this holiday season? Enter Plueys' web site!
